Ask Rev. Kev Answers to spiritual questions from a Christian, GLBT affirming point of view We recently invited Kuma readers to submit questions concerning spirituality and received a ton of replies. Over the next few months, Rev. Kevin E. Taylor will be answering the most popular ones. Question 1: Is being a lesbian a sin? Is it possible to love Jesus, have a lesbian partner and go to heaven? Question 2: I'm a lesbian and a Christian. I've been dating a great woman who is fun, smart and I really enjoy her company. But she considers herself spiritual, not religious (she believes in God). Is it okay for me to continue seeing her or would we be "unevenly yoked." Question 3: Should I hide the fact that I'm gay? Why is it so hard for people to accept lesbian love? Question 4: What is love? What do you do when you have a lover that is very possessive and always thinks that you are doing something? Question 5: Whenever something bad or upsetting happens to me, my mom says it's God trying to tell me that this "lifestyle" is wrong. I usually ignore it, but sometimes I wonder if she's right. Question 6: I might be a lesbian and I'm scared. My family and most of my friends are from the church that I grew up in (and still go to). They and my pastor are very anti-gay. I think they would freak out if they found out--plus, I see the way they treat the "soft" type men on the choir. How can people who are supposed to love you turn around and hate you?
