Emanuel Xavier launched the House of Xavier in 1998 and introduced the Glam Slam to the literary arts scene as a tribute to the gay ball competitions which had influenced him and brought the poetry slams to a whole new level of inspiration and entertainment. After staging several events within the ball and spoken word communities, the House of Xavier established the Glam Slam as a unique and vibrant contribution to New York City culture.
