only because
you mirror back to me
all that i am
and long to become

i desire you
because you are the "One"
who projects
all that i love and fear
hate and protest

i desire you
and therefore capture you
placing you upon a pedestal
too high for even you
to fall

i desire you
and thus
am attached to you
imagining that i own
and even possess you

needing you for smiles
needing you to exist
only because your seductive gaze
sent a shock wave inside me
and told me
that you first desired me too
