_____Angela is beautiful and inviting, but, if you don't make a play for Carla now, you may never get a chance. Besides, Angela almost seems too eager. You pull out your pager and pretend to read a message. "Listen, baby. I have to make a telephone call." Angela gives your hand a playful squeeze before releasing you.
_____You catch a glimpse of Carla just before she disappears onto the dancefloor. Weaving through the women at the bar isn't easy. Angela is watching, so you fight your way to a pay phone. When the coast is clear, you slip onto the dancefloor.
_____Your gaze sweeps the crowd twice before finding Carla wedged into a corner. She is sipping on a tall, red drink, head bopping to the music. There is no sign of the other woman, so you make your approach. "Hey Carla, what's going on?"
_____"Hey." Carla's slight southern accent caressed your ears. "How are you?"
_____"Fine and you?"
_____"I'm doing okay." She frowned. "Actually, I'm starving. We should have stopped to get something to eat first."
_____ At the mention of food, your stomach growls. Suddenly, you need to satisfy a different hunger. "You know there are a couple of decent places nearby: a 24-hour deli and Sabrina's Cafe. Feel like getting a bite?"
_____"I have to let my friend know that I'm leaving. You pick the place and I'll meet you there in about 10 minutes."
_____You can get a nice, thick sandwich from Samson's Deli. There is a table or two in the back, but, with dingy yellow walls, its not the most romantic place in the world. Cozy and intimate, Sabrina's Cafe is one of the most popular hangouts in the non-bar going lesbian community. It has a tendency to get crowded though, especially when Black Lesbians Loving Leather (AKA BL3) do a poetry reading.
_____Choices, choices. You can have bad lighting, an Italian cold cut sub, and Carla all to your self or you can have great atmosphere, a mozzarella and sun dried tomato sandwich, and a crowd of horny black lesbians.
