Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord!
That's what we said and heard
Thank you Jesus
And preach the word!

Laying on hands and speaking in tongues
And souls that are lost that need to be won

Yeah in the church is where some of us was
Praising the Lord and doing drugs
Yeah in the church and trying to live right
Going home and beating our wives every night

In the church Sunday in and Sunday out
Praying in the spirit and praying outloud
Teaching and preaching that fornication and adultery
is wrong
But still letting the brother pray
And the sister sing her song

Room was made for the substance abusers and cheaters
But there was a group within filled with many
"believers"

You know the ones you made fun of
Made everybody laugh talking about their mannerisms
And the broke wrist they had

It's understandable they made you feel uncomfortable
But the truth is you've hurt the hearts of many
With your gossip slander and all your pretending

You see if you really look close
You'd see you really have no room to boast
Because your tongue is what hurts the most

Take a look around and see the fine sisters
Some of which are so righteous you say
But sometimes it's just a front because they too
Have been touched by someone who's gay

Oh yeah don't forget the brothers in all their manly
ways
The sad thing there is some of them have brothers
who are gay
And you give them nothing but stupid things to say

It seems so funny sometimes
How the church responds to the problems in our society
today

We deal with violence and child abuse
But we haven't learned how to love those who are gay
You see we are real people just like you
As for me a lesbian you see
I use my tongue too
But you seem to think worse of me
Yet you with yours you gossip and slander
and ridicule

One is no worse than the other
That's the lesson we need to learn
And remember instead that no matter what
In the church we're suppose to be sisters and brothers

Now I'm not saying not to preach against sin
I'm just saying we have alot of damaged lives to mend

We have to get to the place where we understand
Yes God hates sin but He loves the woman and man
It's the person He loves no matter what or where they
might find themselves in spite
It's the church that doesn't understand
That's the real reason Jesus gave His life!
