I knew it was trouble
This feeling inside
The butterflies
Fluttering
All of sudden
There was you
On my mind
In my heart
Inhaled with every breath
Never has it felt like this
Earthquakes rolling over the hills of my imagination
An elusive dream of my perfect mate
Dancing just beyond my reach
Giving chase is not choice
I must follow my heart
Midnight rendezvous
Intimate disclosures
Deeper and deeper
I fell into you
Every night together was not enough
Every day apart was excruciating
My desire for you to be mine consumed me
This has to be real
My soul has been changed
Underneath my content I knew
It would change
Life became a waiting game
Listening for the other shoe to hit the floor
Every argument just a link in the chain
My dreams were unraveling before me
My heart still ached for you
Then one day it was there
In our bed of roses
On the tips of our lips
Yet unspoken
We turned our backs
Hoping it would go away
Like an uninvited guest
And return our love to the days of old
Our needs had changed
We were afraid to say
It followed us like a shadow
At every meal
With every kiss goodnight
It waited
For the burden to become heavy
And our will to weaken with fatigue
In stepped a spark in your smile
A new name tumbled from your lips
I was not taken by surprise
But the result was the same
Shattered trust
Betrayal
Ugly words
All to mask my pain
I have been what you need
Mocked by jokes and laughter
Silenced by your boasts
I waited for your eyes to see
Beneath the surface
Inside me
Finally
Through the storm
My dreams remain reserved for you
The sweet smell of your skin next to mine
You brown eyes fixed on my face as you dance
Just for me
Those perfect soft lips on mine
Your glistening skin in the sunlight
In the aftermath of our turmoil
We remain as one
