The Lady Scorpian
we are
black womyn doing what it is we do
breaking free of a white washed society
learning what our grandmothers and mothers always knew
there is a sense of style about us you'll find no where else
the way we hold ours heads up shoulders str8 eyes direct
in the way we laugh walk or even balk
big little short tall to you we call
the royalty in us captures all
today womyn dying to look like us
but herstory shows we had to fight
even today so much self hatred prevails behind that plight
so as i put on my colorful attire
never flashing all god gave me
always carrying myself with class
knowing i'll get attention without the need
to over rotate my hips , booty clap or wiggle my azz
i will always carry myself regally
my nubian queens of past fought for my right to have self respect and dignity
so we should reflect and never forget
our blood soaked legacy
and by example the freedom to be
you or
me
