(Part 3)

“Oh baby, I missed you. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to go out with you last night. I really wanted to but I had to get that report out.” Sie looked at Rachel and frowned. “I know baby, I know you don’t like going out by yourself, I promise I’ll make it up to you.” Rachel quickly dropped her briefcase and proceeded to straddle Sie’s hips.
Sie went on instinct and fucked Rachel until she called out her name. They fell back against the bed. “Do you forgive me lover?”
“I forgive you.” Sie kissed the top of Rachel’s head and they fell asleep curled up in each other’s arms. Sie went to work the next morning and it was business as usual. She met Rachel for lunch at the China Bistro.
“How’s the merger going baby?” Sie asked.
“It’s going really well. I’m just glad I had time to spend with you today. We need to do this more often.”
Sie smiled at her lover of five years. She compared every inch of her to Naia’s body and grabbed her chest because of the sharp pain that went through her.
“Are you okay baby? Is it your chest again, I want you to make an appointment and get yourself checked out.”
“I’m fine baby, it’s love pangs that’s all.” Siene smiled at her lover and they finished their meal.
“So I’ll see you later on then?” Rachel kissed Siene and rushed back to her office.
Ms. Kwor, you have a message from a Kim Mucod. “Thanks Rain, I’ll be in my office for the rest of the afternoon if anyone needs me.” Siene called Ms. Kim back and while wondering what she wanted. “Hey Ms. Kim, it’s Sie returning your call.”
“Honey I know who you are. You’re the only one who works for a computer software company. How are you doing today?”
“I’m fine Ms. Kim thanks for asking. What do I owe this pleasure of hearing your voice during the week?”
“Well you know that my party is coming up and I need a head count. Will you and Ms. Rachel be in attendance?”
“It will probably be just me Ms. Kim. Rachel is working on a merger so she won’t be able to come.”
“I don’t believe that woman has ever come to one of my parties. If you love it, I like it. It will be at the Providence Hotel, Paris ballroom at 8:00 pm.”
“I’ll be there with bells on.”
Siene put the phone back on Mickey Mouse’s arm and went back to her work. After leaving work she pulled her car onto 7th street and turned her radio to the Michael Baisden show. The topic of the day was asking the one you shouldn’t have let go of to come back to you. Sie listened the various men and women call in before calling in. The attendant answered the phone and asked her if she wanted to ask a man to forgive her and she said “No, a woman.” The attendant placed her on hold and she listened and waited for her chance to ask Naia to forgive her. About ten minutes had passed before she started to get cold feet because she was sure that her friends would know who she was by her voice. Rachel would hear her but she wanted to apologize to Naia and she really did want her back but to say it aloud for the world to hear, she wasn’t sure that she could.
The phone went dead and she sighed but wondered what she could do to get Naia back. When she arrived home, Rachel met her at the door with a negligee on and Sie couldn’t help but to remember the first time she’d ever saw Naia in a negligee. She literally took her breath away. No amount of daydreaming and fantasizing could replace Rachel with Naia.
“Baby, I’ve been waiting for you.” Rachel hugged Sie and led her to the bedroom.
“I need to talk to you Rachel. I have something to tell you.” Sie hugged Rach and led her to the armoire. “Baby, I have been lying to you and myself for a long time and I can’t do that anymore.”
“What are you talking about Sie?” Rach kissed and rubbed Sie’s face.
“I don’t love you like you love me Rach. I’m still in love with Naia.” It was out there and Sie couldn’t pull the words back. She looked at Rach and waited for her response.
“What the hell do you mean you’re still in love with Naia? We’ve been together for five years, you left her to be with me and now you’re telling me that you’re still in love with her.”
Sie moved away from Rachel in case she decided to get physical and from across the room she said, “I’m sorry baby. I do love you just not like I love Naia. I tried to bury the feelings I had by not being around her and by hurting her but they are still there. I can’t erase them and I have tried. I love what we have but I miss her Rachel.”
“I’m sure she doesn’t love you anymore, after you’ve hurt her so you might as well stay with me. You won’t have anywhere to live. I’m not giving up on us.” Rachel went toward Sie and started kissing her and put Sie’s hand in between her legs. “You know you don’t want to leave. I forgive you baby, just give me what we both want.”
Sie couldn’t believe what Rachel was saying to her. She’d just told her that she wasn’t in love with her but it was as if Rach didn’t hear one word of it. “We can’t, I don’t want this anymore Rach. It’s not enough anymore.”
“I know you love me Sie, you have too five years is a long time not to love someone you sleep with almost every night. Come on baby, we can forget about what you said.” Rach slipped Sie’s fingers inside of her and pushed her lover towards the bed. She kissed Sie until she responded and they made love. The next morning Rach awoke to find Sie and all of Sie’s things gone. She ran down the stairs calling Sie’s name but she was gone. She found a letter from Sie apologizing for breaking her heart but she didn’t see the need to live a lie anymore. Rach collapsed against the bar in tears.
“Thanks for letting me crash here Aja. I really appreciate it.”
“It’s cool. You know that you’re my girl. You have to get your stuff together man. I have to say you have balls. I hope it’s worth it.”
“She’s worth it Aja, I just wish I’d realized it then.” The days and two weeks passed and Sie finally got her own apartment. She was surprised that Rach hadn’t tried to contact her and actually respected her wishes to not pursue their relationship anymore. Sie knew that she’d messed up by both women but she’d tried to make it up to Naia as best as she could and she wished only the best for Rach.
Naia went on with her daily routine of work, church and keeping herself busy so that she didn’t think of Sie before she knew it the day of Ms. Kim’s party had arrived. She’d gotten her and Gerald a couple’s day of massage at Carmen Carmen an upscale salon and she knew that Ms. Kim would love that. Naia had a hard time deciding what to wear and settled on a red, dazzling dress with some black stilettos. She didn’t want to look all scruffy at Ms. Kim’s party because everyone knew that you were the shit if you’d gotten an invite and a personal invite at that.
“Siene, come on man, it’s time to go.” Aja said into the intercom. Her and Siene had decided to ride to Ms. Kim’s party together. Siene checked herself in the mirror before heading out the door. “You’re so impatient. You know I had to check myself. You have to come correct for Ms. Kim’s party.” Aja shook her head at her friend and the two walked to the car.
“You know Aja, I’m glad we decided to drive together, look at the parking lot.” Aja nodded her head in agreement, as they pulled up the valet parking booth.
“Ladies, welcome to Providence.” Aja handed the valet her keys and the two strode into the hotel.
“This is some place.” Aja remarked. The hotel was filled with crystal chandeliers and French furniture dating back to the early 1900s. “It’s out of lifestyles of the rich and famous.”
“Aja you’re a mess, go on in I have to visit the ladies room. I’ll catch up with you.”
Sie went in and tried to compose herself. She was sure that the lady she saw in the red dress was Nai. Ms. Kim wouldn’t have invited both of them to the same party. She splashed some water in her face, dabbed it off with a silk handkerchief and went to join the party.

She had to agree with Aja, Gerald had outdone himself, the ballroom was decorated heavily, the white round tables with rose and calla lily centerpieces were divine.
“I’m glad you made it baby. Put that gift on the table with the rest of them.” Sie hugged Ms. Kim after following her directions.
“Happy Birthday beautiful.” Sie kissed Ms. Kim on the cheek.
“Thank you baby. You look really good.” Sie laughed.
“So do you lady of honor. Gerald really outdid himself this go around.”
“Yes he did. When I saw the room I just cried and ran all of my mascara honey, it was a mess. I do love that man.” They both glanced across the room to see Gerald raising a glass to them before getting back to his conversation with his business partners.
“Now baby, I’m sitting you at the table with Gerald and I and some of our closest friends, you know I had to sit the family at an adjoining table, didn’t want them to ruin our high.”
“All right, I’m honored and flattered.”
The two linked arms and walked over to the head table which was square and sat in front of a floor length window overlooking the hotel’s private lake. It was beautiful.
The fountain was full of purple and white hues matching the décor of the party and Ms. Kim’s gown. Sie was so enthralled by the water that she didn’t notice Naia sitting in the seat next to the one Ms. Kim led her to. “All right baby, I’m going to go and stand next to my man, you sit right here next to this beautiful lady and behave yourself.”
“Don’t I always” Sie said as she turned to sit down.
“I can’t believe her. Did you put her up to this?”
Sie stumbled backward and almost knocked the chair over. “No I didn’t.”
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
Sie was staring at Nai with her mouth open. “I can’t believe it, it is you. I saw you when I came in the hotel but I wasn’t sure. You look absolutely beautiful.”
Nai couldn’t help but smile. “Yes she does.” They both turned around to see Ms. Kim and Gerald standing behind them. “Go on and sit down Sie, I know you want to, besides the show is about to start.” Gerald, Ms. Kim, and Sie took their seats just as the lights went down. Out came the Dream Merchants, the most upscale drag trio in Charlotte.
“I didn’t know that you were going to be here, I swear but you can’t leave because Ms. Kim will be upset.” Sie whispered.
“Who said that I was leaving I rather like the Dream Merchants and wouldn’t miss this for the world.”
Sie couldn’t help staring at Nai during the show. Her whole body was tingling with nervousness and excitement. She’d waited for weeks to be this close to Nai again and here they were. Ms. Nikkei the leader of Dream Merchant came from behind a curtain dressed in a tux and sung Dream Merchant, Sie’s favorite song. She couldn’t help but put her arm around Nai’s chair and pull her towards her.
“What are you doing Sie?”
“I want the Dream Merchant to bring you back to me.”
The lights came back on and Ms. Kim was now in the middle of the floor with Gerald. “All rights ladies and gents it’s time to dance, come on out and join us.”
“Well you heard the lady, may I have this dance?”
Sie was up and holding her hand out towards Nai.
“Don’t make me beg, one dance and I’ll leave you alone.”
“Fine, Sie.”
Sie led Nai out to the dance floor and pulled her close to her. Although Nai didn’t want to, she enjoyed feeling Sie’s arms wrapped around her. So strong and for the first time in a long time, she felt safe. Nai held Sie closer to her. She put her head into the groove of Sie’s neck and relaxed. They danced slowly around the perimeter of the dance floor. They danced the length of two love songs without stopping or realizing that they were now the only couple on the dance floor.
I who have no one adore you and love you so….
Sie couldn’t believe her ears, it was their song playing. She looked down at Nai and saw that though she had her eyes closed she was crying. She kissed her love on the forehead, pulled her closer, and held her tighter.
“I am so sorry. I know that I hurt you and no amount of me saying that I’m sorry can fix that or make you want me again but I’m not whole without you.”
“I know Sie and I’m tired of hating you and feeling this anger and rage but I love you just as you love me if not more.” Nai kissed Sie on the lips very softly and walked away from her.
Sie stood there for a few minutes stunned by Nai’s actions and words. She felt someone put their arms around her waist and began swaying to the music.
“It’s all right baby, I’ll lead. I haven’t done that in awhile. Are you ok?”
“Yes Ms. Kim, she said she loved me just as much as I love her and she kissed me.”
“Well I knew she did, ya’ll just needed a push in the same direction. Give her time to get herself together. Know this, once a woman lets you back in you have to never make the same mistakes or let her go.”
“I know Ms. Kim and thank you so much for everything I’m going to go and find her.” With that, Sie danced Ms. Kim over to Gerald, said goodnight, hugged them both, and went to search for Naia. She walked slowly from the ballroom but picked up her pace once outside.
“Hey Sie where are you going man?” Sie turned around to see Aja walking with Tracy. “I’m going to find Nai Aja, you can go on without me.”
“Good luck man.” Aja and Tracy went back into the ballroom and Sie continued towards the hotel entrance. She looked around and asked the valet if he’d seen a woman in a red dress come out of the hotel and he told her no. She went back in and headed for the lake. Nai was nowhere to be found. Sie sat on a bench and put her head in her hands.
“Please God, bring her back to me. I know I messed up but she’s all that I’ve ever wanted and dreamed about. I’m sorry for hurting you by hurting her. I know that I was wrong and I messed up pretty bad and I am so sorry.”
Nai heard Sie’s prayer and sobbing and felt sorry for her. She came out of he shadows and walked over to the bench. She kneeled in front of Sie and took her hands from her face. “I’m right here baby, I’m right here.”
Sie grabbed Nai and they kissed as if there were no tomorrow.
“See Gerald I told you it would work. They just needed a little push.”
“As always you are right baby.” Gerald hugged Kim and they entertained their guests until the wee hours of the morning.
