The inspiration of poetry through lyrics
The conversion of words from mathematical equations is mind boggling
After listening to the songs and reading these words
I think you’ll be able to understand it
In the 17 songs chosen
Excerpts of my life are unknowingly told
This is the only chance I have to expose my soul
Before I met you I was introduced to reality
That “I get lonely” instrumental reality
The one that leads to a hopeless romantic’s fatality
The fantasy before the reality
Entailed me searching for “The Ingredients of Love”
Blindsided by the pain in love
I Wonder
How do we make love
And what it consists of
I decided to stop my search and travel to “Beautiful”
Where the sky was open to me and not just a delusion grandiose
During my self reflection of previous rejections
I insisted for the next she
Who intended to mirror me
Prove herself continuously
No more idle conversation necessary
Simply
“Show me”
Show me that she could be my “Sista soul”
Soul Sista who won’t go by unnoticed
Not offering crippled reflections of a woman
Pretending to be bold
Instead
Offering
“Infinite possibilities” starting with self preservation
Allowing nothing to tear her down
Seeking
Soulful revelations
A woman with the soulful secret’s of “Brooklyn’s” A train
And painful memories of a broken hearted lady from New York
Seeking to conquer her clouds overflowing with rain
With Wisdom so intensely profound
The walls of cynicism come crashing down
Ultimately, manifest “Destiny”
By breathing life into a breathless me
Easing my herstories
I wish for her to be
Comfortably cocky in her abilities
The ability to have me “Falling out”
Like a bee craving honey and the sun going down
I lose this bout
Having vivid images of my mind’s “Buttnaked” silhouette
Repeatedly playing in her mind’s eye
I know the neighbors will damn sure be hearing us tonight
Hear my mental penetration sending her womanhood fuck me knots
So
“Don’t say” what you won’t do
Because
When “My body’s hungry”
You’ll be the first one to come on through
Willing to pay the price for the us you see
Cause the love we share damn sure isn’t free
As my reveries become realisms of an old fashioned “Crush”
The intoxicating mixture of saxophones send my body a chilling rush
Suddenly
My reverie is interrupted
By the voice that whispers
Your perception of me must be twisted girl
Because
“I’m waiting on you”
Subconsciously
My right brain hesitantly asks
“Can’t we wait a minute”
Cause for the first time love is the complicated melody I’m eager to grasp
In the 60 seconds it took to respond
My left brain was already set to “Float”
Grabbing hold of her soul while moods evoke scents of the “L” we smoke
I feel the fire of her passion burning inside me
Reminiscent of jazz ballads paying homage to “Romeo & Juliet’s” inferno of intensity
Typical characteristics of a manic love condition
It gives poignant meaning to Shakespeare’s artistic vision
As the curtain closes and the artist are given roses
Lyrics from songs and dreams deferred play loudly
As my poetry continues to be inspired by music
I hope that you bask in the beauty of this Langston Hughes like rendition
