Just Dessert: An Evening of Butch/Femme Erotica bills itself as "an exploration of the butch/femme dynamic in the black and latina traditions. Performing from their steamy, award-winning works, these two women are unabashed in their eroticism, emotionally, spiritually and physically claiming who they are for all the world to see." The show lives up to its promises and then some. This ground-breaking performance is a must see event.

Robin G. White, author of Resurrection: A Collection of Work, and C.C. Carter, author of Body Language, take turns reading selections from their works. The ladies have no idea what the other is going to read, so the challenge is to pick selections that compliment each other on the fly.

For lesser artists, it could be a recipe for disaster, but the vibe between Robin and C.C. is excellent. Like chocolate and caramel, they are fantastic by themselves and phenomenal together. The erotic energy crackling through the performance easily made it's way into the audience.

From C.C.'s "History of My Hips" through Robin's "Shout," they take us on a journey through the whole spectrum of erotica. Their words soothe and caress the ears, but reach past wet clits and excited nipples to arouse an orgasm from the soul.

Don't let the subtitle (a night of Butch/Femme erotica) fool you, Just Dessert is not about categories or rigid sexual roles. The theme of this performance is quite a liberating one: whether we self identify as butch, femme, or "just me," it's important to realize and celebrate the fullness of ourselves. That's real erotica.
