![]() Faith TrimelFaith Trimel is a native of Chicago who is now based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Her love of movies began as a child when she would sneak into her mother's room after bedtime, watching television late into the night. Movies were a mesmerizing force for Faith, and soon she began dreaming of becoming apart of them. Initially, her desire was to solely act but the time, the industry offered little opportunity for African American actresses at the time so Trimel decided to create her own parts. In spite of that fact she knew of no other black female directors. However, that all changed after Spike Lee burst upon the scene with his films and Faith was given hope. Lee deeply influenced her and she decided to follow in his footsteps. However, to her dismay in spite of a burgeoning industry of Black Cinema in the Nineties and New Millennium there were no film parts for her national region and demographic. After a very rigorous actor training program, Faith worked quite successfully as an Atlanta actress. She booked commercials, industrials, voice-overs and theatre, however, the city's film prospects were predominantly male centered and driven. Faith decided to return to her initial dream of filmmaking in order to open up that opportunity for herself. The tools in her arsenal were some directing and writing classes as an undergraduate at Georgia State University and a few scripts originating in a screenwriting class. A few years after graduating with a BA in Theatre, she began subsequent redrafts of her original screenplays and development of various treatments. In a continuing education course, she learned additional skills and began devouring books on filmmaking, which inspired her to plan and execute the production of her debut film. Trimel took this on jumping into the deep end. She is almost exclusively self-taught from devouring books on filmmaking. Employing various mentors in all creative areas greatly assisted her in writing, directing and producing. All were very learned women with a unique and insightful approach to the project. In the spring of 2003, Faith began pre-production on her film BLACK AURA ON AN ANGEL as writer, director and producer. That following summer, production began with Faith assuming one of the starring roles in addition to acting as film editor and music supervisor. Trimel shepherds over this project to bring it into fruition. With this film complete, the future looks very hopeful and just the beginning for this woman in front of and behind the camera. Trimel has shown a versatility that will allow tremendous opportunities in a multitude of areas. Synopsis | Interview | Buy Go Back
