In The Gray Zone<\/a>, Kadawa gives us a peak into what it is like to be in same sex relationship in an African country where homosexuality is a crime. Even in South Africa, where lgbt people are protected under the constitution (and can get married), life for black lgbt people can be dangerous:

On August 14th in New York, there will be a Vigil honoring these and other LGBT & Hiv+ Activists who have been murdered<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of course,\u00a0hate crimes<\/a> against lgbt in the US<\/a> haven’t disappeared. It doesn’t matter whether you are just looking for a date online<\/a>, a celebrated performer<\/a>, a 15 year old<\/a> at a bus stop, or a 3 year old<\/a> who isn’t tough enough.<\/p>\n
