Even in South Africa, where lgbt people are protected under the constitution (and can get married), life for black lgbt people can be dangerous:<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.365gay.com\/Newscon07\/07\/071207saf.htm\">South African Lesbians Tortured, Murdered<\/a><br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sundayherald.com\/international\/shinternational\/display.var.1546316.0.0.php\">Lesbian couple killed in execution-style murder<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On August 14th in New York, there will be a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kuma2.net\/skyeview\/?p=189\">Vigil honoring these and other LGBT &amp; Hiv+ Activists who have been murdered<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Category:Hate_crimes_against_LGBT_people\">hate crimes<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.republicoft.com\/category\/hate-crimes\/\">against lgbt in the US<\/a> haven&#8217;t disappeared. It doesn&#8217;t matter whether you are just <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=6367593\">looking for a date online<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kevin_Aviance\">a celebrated performer<\/a>, a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sakia_Gunn\">15 year old<\/a> at a bus stop, or <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ronnie_Paris\">a 3 year old<\/a> who isn&#8217;t tough enough.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kuma2.net\/skyeview\/?p=189&amp;page=3\">Where Will You Be When They Come?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In The Gray Zone, Kadawa gives us a peak into what it is like to be in same sex relationship in an African country where homosexuality is a crime.
